GRASS VALLEY, CA – Sierra Video, a leading provider of high-quality video and audio equipment for the broadcast, government, and professional video marketplaces, today introduced a new routing switcher upgrade feature called Expand On Demand Instant Field Upgrades.  The feature will first appear in Sierra Video’s new Alta Pro family of 600MHz RGBHV and RGB/Y Pb Pr routing switchers.  It allows an Alta Pro to be instantly upgraded from Component/RGB/Y Pb Pr video to RGBHV video. It also allows the routing switcher to increase inputs and outputs, all without any physical modifications to the frame.

Expand On Demand Instant Field Upgrade allows Alta Pro owners to contact their dealer to order an instant upgrade.  Upon purchase, the owner is provided with a password that can be entered into the routing switcher via the control system, instantly expanding the routing switcher.  A frame can be upgraded from Component or RGB/Y Pb Pr video to full RGBHV video and/or from a smaller configuration to 8x8, 12x4, or 12x8.  

Expand On Demand Instant Field Upgrade is the newest upgrade option offered by Sierra Video.  The company continues to offer its popular Trade In – Trade Up™ Routing Switcher Exchange Program, which allows a generous credit for a customer’s entire system when it is traded in for a new, larger Sierra Video routing switcher.

Alta Pro Wideband Routing Switchers are available in 12x4, 12x8, 8x4 and 8x8 configurations with optional stereo audio, all housed in a 3RU (5.25”) frame.  At 600MHz, these routing switchers offer the highest-available bandwidth in the industry with extremely low crosstalk and a reduced footprint.  A dedicated push button control panel comes standard with every model and provides easy operation including audio gain and preset control.  A stereo 10 segment LED VU meter is also included on the front panel for setting and monitoring audio levels. Alta PRO models also provide a 40% energy savings over previous generation RGBHV and RGB/Y Pb Pr routing switchers.
