Kramer Provides SDI to Analog Conversion in a Compact Device

Kramer Introduces the 7408 SDI to Analog Format Converter

29 September 2005

Jerusalem, Israel - September 28, 2005 – Kramer Electronics, Ltd., a worldwide supplier of audio, video and computer graphics signal distribution, switching and processing equipment for the broadcast, production, security, education, home theater and ProAV presentation markets, is pleased to announce the introduction of the 7408 SDI to analog format converter. The 7408 is a very compact solution for SDI to analog conversion, is part of the Kramer DigiTOOLS line of products, and is housed in the very popular Kramer TOOLS size enclosure.

The Kramer 7408 is a multi-standard, adjustment-free, full 10-bit digital to analog converter designed to accept an SDI (4:2:2 serial digital video) input, provide a re-clocked and equalized looping SDI output, and convert the original signal to analog outputs in three common signal formats: composite video, s-Video (YC) and component video (YUV). The unit employs 4 times digital over-sampling to minimize digital artifacts. Full ProcAmp control of the video image for adjusting parameters such as contrast, hue, saturation and sharpness is available through the use of the included user friendly Windows® PC software over the RS-232 connector on the 7408.

“The 7408 is the natural extension of our very popular and reliable FC-7402 19” SDI to analog format converter,” states Chris Kopin, vice president of Product Development for Kramer Electronics USA. “It provides users in the broadcast and video production markets with an extremely compact and economical solution for format conversion from SDI to analog video.”

The 7408 encodes 525 line signals to NTSC 3.58 or NTSC 4.43, and 625 lines to PAL-B, D, G, H, I or N. When encoding NTSC, the FC-7402 can be programmed with or without a 7.5 IRE setup (pedestal).

The 7408 is now in stock and available through Kramer Electronics sales companies worldwide.
