The Auto-sensing and Auto-reporting Matrix

Kramer Electronics Introduces VP-8x8 Computer Graphics Video Matrix Switcher with Active Input Indication™ Reporting

07 November 2005

Jerusalem, Israel - November 8, 2005 – Kramer Electronics, Ltd., a worldwide supplier of audio, video and computer graphics signal distribution, switching and processing equipment for the broadcast, production, security, education, home theater and ProAV presentation markets, is pleased to announce the newest addition to its product line, the VP-8x8 computer graphics video matrix switcher.

The Kramer VP-8x8 is a 400 MHz high bandwidth matrix switcher for computer graphics video signals with resolutions ranging from VGA through UXGA on 15-pin HD connectors. It is a true matrix switcher capable of routing any input to any or all outputs simultaneously. A very unique feature of the VP-8x8 is that it can automatically sense the presence of a signal at each input and will display the availability of input signals by lighting up the corresponding input button on the front panel. This is Kramer’s Active Input Indication reporting feature. Another significant feature of the VP-8x8 is Video Follow Sync™ switching that allows the user to add up to 3.5 seconds of delay to the switching of the video portions of the input signal to provide smooth switching between sources.

“The new VP-8x8 is a very powerful and feature rich matrix switcher for computer graphics video signals,” states Chris Kopin, vice president of Product Development for Kramer Electronics USA. “Users will really appreciate the Active Input Indication reporting. It is a very handy feature that will allow them to know at a glance which of the inputs has an active signal. They will also benefit from the Video Follow Sync switching which will allow them to set a delay for the video portion of the input signal while the sync portion is processed, resulting in smooth switching. ”

This computer graphics video matrix switcher has sixteen preset memory locations for quick access to common configurations. It has a “Take” button which allows the user to execute multiple switchers or salvos from a memory queue with one touch of this button. It also comes with a front panel “Lock Out” button to ensure proper performance after the unit has been initially set up.

The unit can be controlled remotely over the World Wide Web or via a WAN or LAN through the Ethernet port provided. It can also be controlled directly from the front panel or remotely via RS-232, RS-485, or the included RC-IR1 infrared remote control. For convenient RS-232 control this model is shipped with K-Router™ Windows® based control software.

The VP-8x8 is dependable, rugged, and fits in one vertical space of a standard 19” professional rack enclosure (1RU). It contains a world wide 100/264 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 23VA auto-switching power supply.

The Kramer VP-8x8 is now in stock and available through Kramer Electronics sales companies worldwide.
