Kramer Ships First “XL” Series ProScale™ Digital Scaler/Switchers

Kramer Electronics’ new and “user improved” models enter the market

20 October 2005

Jerusalem, Israel – October 17, 2005 – Kramer Electronics, Ltd., a worldwide supplier of audio, video and computer graphics signal distribution, switching and processing equipment for the broadcast, production, security, education, home theater and ProAV presentation markets, is pleased to announce the introduction of the VP-719xl and the VP-720xl. These are the first two of four “xl” series models that will constitute the redesigned Kramer ProScale™ Digital Scaler/Switcher line.

Kramer’s “DS” series of ProScale Digital Scaler/Switchers have been extremely popular models. They are the essence of “affordable quality,” providing performance only found in significantly more expensive products. They have settled into quite a strong market niche, particularly for the Houses of Worship, education and presentation markets. Based directly on user feedback, Kramer has created the new “xl” series of these models incorporating many exciting new improvements. The VP-719xl and the VP-720xl are the first two members of the new “xl” series to hit the market. Best of all, Kramer is pleased to introduce these two models at exactly the same prices as their predecessor “DS” models.

The new “xl” series adds several important new features derived directly from customer input. The “xl” series has two 15-pin HD output connectors rather than one as the “DS” series had. Nearly every application requires either a local monitor or a second large screen display and this second output connector on the “xl” series accounts for those needs. The new models in this series also have user definable aspect ratio capability, built in audio amplifier and speaker output connectors, a user selectable blue or black video blanking button on the front panel, a freeze button on the front panel and a front panel lock out button to prevent accidental changes to the desired operational settings.

These “xl” series ProScale digital scaler/switchers also have a newly designed front panel. The resolution button found on the “DS” models has been removed. Nearly 100% of the time, the user will set the output resolution to match their system needs, and it will never need to be changed again. Removing the resolution button prevents any unwanted changes once the machine is set up. The output resolution is easily set from the on-screen menu. Also, all the red lights found in the old “DS” models above the input selection buttons on the front panel have been removed. The buttons themselves now light up when they are selected. This results in a much cleaner and attractive front panel design.

“I have personally talked to a tremendous number of very happy users of our ProScale Digital Scaler/Switchers,” states Chris Kopin, vice president of product development for Kramer Electronics USA. “But as happy as everyone was with the original “DS” family of our ProScale Digital Scaler/Switcher line up, I would always hear some very good ideas as to further improve upon these workhorse models. I listened, and took that feedback directly to our engineers, and our product team has incorporated nearly every suggestion passed along to them, into the new “xl” series -- making them even more ‘installation friendly’ than before.”

The “xl” series of the ProScale Digital Scaler/Switchers have all the same great features found in the predecessor line up of ‘DS” models. They are true multi standard video to RGBHV scalers that utilize Kramer’s K-Storm™ Scaling technology to convert video, s-Video (YC), component video, VGA through UXGA computer graphics video signals and DVI signals to multiple user selectable output pixel rates with extraordinary output image quality. They also have Kramer’s FTB™ (fade-thru-black) glitch free switching technology for ultra clean switching between inputs.

The Kramer VP-719xl and VP-720xl ProScale Digital Scaler/Switcher “xl” series models are now in stock and available through Kramer Electronics sales offices worldwide.
