New Broadcast SDI to Analog Signal Format Converter

Kramer launches new FC-7402 10-Bit D to A converter

15 September 2004

Hampton, NJ – September 15, 2004 – Kramer Electronics Ltd., a worldwide supplier of audio, video and computer graphics signal distribution, switching and processing equipment for the broadcast, production, security, education, home theater and ProAV presentation markets, is pleased to announce that the new Kramer FC-7402 D to A converter is available.

The Kramer FC-7402 is a multi-standard, adjustment-free, full 10-bit digital to analog converter designed to accept an SDI (4:2:2 serial digital video) input, provide a re-clocked and equalized SDI output, and convert the original signal to analog outputs in the four common signal formats: composite video, S-video (YC), RGsB, and Y, R-Y, B-Y. Full ProcAmp control of the video image is also available via the front panel with 7-segment display, and via RS-232. In both cases there is the option of storing settings in non-volatile memory. The FC-7402 also has an internal 75% color bar generator, whose timing is based on the SDI input.

“The FC-7402 is the culmination of our research into user requirements for SDI to Analog conversion”, states Chris Kopin, Director of Product Development for Kramer Electronics US. “It builds on the success of the SD-7401, and adds the features we have most been asked for.”

The FC-7402 encodes 525 line signals to NTSC 3.58 or NTSC 4.43, and 625 lines to PAL-B, D, G, H, I or Combination PAL-N. When encoding NTSC, the FC-7402 can be programmed with or without a 7.5 IRE setup (pedestal).

The FC-7402 is now in stock and available from Kramer Electronics sales companies around the world.
